I know many of you are doing a paladin, and have to roleplay your alignment.
But Paladin doesn't mean ass.
( not directing this at any one person, but pretty much paladin assumed ideals in general as I see this happening )

Paladins can be fun, You can remain lawful, you can remain good, and still have a sense of humour.
Stiff rigid anti social characters tend to have people ( even of like or similar alignment ) not wanting to be around them. ( this also goes for the dark broody evil guy, and becomes cliche' )

You have "detect evil' use it, don't make general assumptions by someone's dress or physical appearance.
Paladin's aren't racists cyclops Instead paladin's would fight against that sort of thing.
Not every "mind" will think the same way you do, do not brush them off as "intolerable' because you cant keep up verbal banter, ask questions ( ask the right questions ) and maybe you will find an ally, or uncover an enemy you didn't realize before.
I personally, like to roleplay 'alien mindsets' what I mean by that is creatures that do not think in a typical human/demi human mind.
Animal minds are different. Food is a top priority. Combat is a means to gather food.

Many a character I will play ( and others that play similarly ) might not understand war, or the need to fight between others except for food or protection.
I have been approached by a couple different ( or perhaps same person on different characters ) as evil, when running my kobolds. Only "one" of my kobolds is some what evil Razz and he was not approached.

Before you come up and whisper "foul demon, begone!" you might wanna check your facts, send tells, with a detect alignment request.
Keevass, Not evil, was very puzzled when he was approached, he asked a question not understanding what the person meant the person fled Suspect

Keteshz is actually a monk-priest of Lendys, a draconic deity of balance. He is Lawful Neutral, and often talks about what he considers religious things ( however they do not translate well from the reptilian mind, into common tongue ) Smile
Ket was also approached and called EVIL!! *chuckles* Ket was offended, and wandered off.

Skraethas, is chaotic neutral, with slight evil tendencies, he in his own mind inst evil, he would never summon the corpse of a kobold to do his bidding, that would be horribly wrong. Yet those man-things when dead make the perfect servant during combat!

Iharvess, is truly evil.
He is an Impling, and his goal is to twist and turn your words, and get you to do something, you normally would not do. Iharvess likes nothing better than to pick at a paladin's morals.
When running Iharvess I have had great roleplay in dealing with paladins, however it still is suspect, because none made an attempt to detect evil, (even though Iharvess made no bones about being secretive about it )

Dark Brooders, no matter what alignment are hard to approach.
How do you roleplay with someone that smolders and molders and emanates bad vibes?
Usually, for me when someone gives off this vibe, I assume they want to be left alone, and i do so. If its your intent on creating roleplay like this, it is hard to understand how one should approach you.

I guess, the over all message I am trying to get across, is lighten up, have fun, because its darned hard to roleplay with someone that is so serious all the time. Be flexible where your alignment allows it, don't jump to conclusions and judge based on appearance, but rather take the time to know the facts first.

Now, I have only seen this a couple times on the server, but I have seen this a lot on BSK where I just left, so I thought I'd mention it Smile

My problem with people role playing monsters expecting the general populace to accepts them........ when a normal adventurer goes out into the out doors... and they see a goblin... they don't go "hey goblin... you look semi friendly, we should be friends" NO! They scream "EVIL DOER!" And then remove the goblin's head from their body, now, yes your Kobold isn't evil... but fact remains... they are a kobold, you are playing a "monster" race, and as such, you should expect to be "treated" as a monster by most adventurers. It is just like a drow entering a city... the guards aren't going to say "Oh, it's just a drow, let him through" No... they are going to expect he is a spy, or someone to cause trouble, and fill him full of arrows Very Happy. I am not saying people shouldn't play monster races, what I am saying is, to all of those that are playing monster races, don't expect hugs.

You are going to get a variety of various different and unusual things.
You have dragons all over Forlorn, you have demons and devils everywhere.

I didn't once have anyone say 'evil doer' I did have someone call me an evil devil. ( Keteshz was level 15 then )
*chuckles*
There is a difference.
Yet, Iharvess was not even 'blinked at' by the same player, and he is more than a bit evil. (because he was already level 35)

I don't think anyone expects 'you' to like people like me that enjoys playing a monster type. If you hate me fine, but but telling me you are going to run me out of the city, and calling me a devil, when you are standing next to a dragon, devil, vampire and a werewolf is er... ironically silly don't you think?

Just because you are friends with the players next to you, doesn't mean you alienate the new player ( in the case of me, when this all happened several months ago )

If you are going to roleplay a holier than thou type, then do not make exceptions because the guy next to you is your best friend on his evil character.

The point of this wasnt that scenario per say, but the fact that the 'paladin' acted like I was the very worst thing ever, because I was low level, and easily killed in pvp. The paladin said nothing to the guys standing next to him in solid black and glowy evil red swords. Razz

I am not trying to 'school' you young padawan, but being a pompous jerk because you can beat the guy is a silly way to jump in and roleplay.
And this doesn't just apply to paladins, but to the dark brooder types that look down thier noses and sneer.

A Lawful Evil guy, can and probably is a very well liked 'nice guy' with some hideously evil plot.
A Lawful good guy doesn't need to confront and call people names.

You can roleplay your distaste for the scantily clad woman easily without running by and shouting "Harlot".

Roleplay, I dare you Smile
